Spring time is get in shape time

Even if you have been fairly active this past winter. It’s time to start thinking about getting in shape for mountain climbing, hiking, biking and just about every other outdoor activity you can think of.

If your anything like me, you don’t own a tread mill or any other exercise equipment. Or if you do, it’s seen way more downtime then in use time. With the weather being warmer and for the most part the snow is gone, (central and southern Maine anyways) it’s a good time to start walking. Even if it’s just around town.

You will notice just how “soft” you’ve become the first few trips. So do yourself a favor and just start out  with a mile walk. Then bump it up to 2 miles  and so on.

Then if you want, you can start with walking half way and jogging the other half.

Also dig out your bike that’s been stored away this winter. Remember to look it over before just jumping on it and riding.

Tires will probably need some air. Check and make sure your brakes work and don’t stick.

Remember, it’s only the start of April, by the time prime time for whatever outdoor activities your into comes around.  By getting out and moving around now on a daily basis, you will be in better shape and will enjoy your chosen activity much more.
